Leading the Treasure Valley in Advanced Eye Care

At Vision Quest we believe in providing world class care to every patient. That's why we pride ourselves on offering new, innovative technology and treatments. Our history speaks for itself. For three decades patients in the Treasure Valley have entrusted us with their vision, knowing we'll treat them with compassion and the most advanced procedures available. In the last five years alone we've introduced multiple ground breaking procedures:

2017

In 2017 we were the first practice in Idaho to offer femtosecond laser cataract surgery (LenSx). This laser precision surgery offers customized results without blade incision. We were also the first practice in Idaho to offer intraoperative aberrometry (ORA), which allows your surgeon to take measurements and make adjustments in real time during cataract surgery.

2018

We were the first in Idaho to introduce the OMNI minimally invasive glaucoma surgery for glaucoma patients in 2018, allowing our doctors to target multiple problem areas without implants in a single surgery.

2019

As the first practice in Idaho to implant the Alcon Trifocal cataract implant, we were thrilled to make this groundbreaking cataract treatment available to our patients. This lens allows cataract patients to restore their vision at every distance: near, middle, and far.

2020

For our cataract patients suffering from corneal astigmatism we became the first practice in Idaho to offer the clear Vivity extended focus IO which helps to restore focus at arm's length distances. Additionally we were the first, and remain the only practice in Idaho, to offer HD Lasik (Contura Vision). This exciting tehcnology allows us to perform LASIK surgery with individualzied mapping of the patient's eye to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

2021

In 2021 we were the first in the state to use the RXsight Light Adjustable Implant for cataract patients. This lens can be optimized after surgery, making it the first to allow control over adjustment post surgery.

2023

Dr. Jacob Mong implants the first RXsight Light Adjustable Lens Plus + in Idaho! This new version of the LAL offers all the same benefits with the addition of enhanced near vision.

A Future of Innovation

Vision Quest Medical Center will continue to offer the latest advancements in technology to our patients across the valley. As Idaho and it's vision care needs continue to grow, so to will the tools, procedures, and staff in our surgery centers. On that note we're excited to announce the addition of our newest ophthalmologist, Michael B. Merkley, M.D.

Dr. Merkley grew up right here in Boise and currently serves in the United States Air Force. He'll be joining us part time until his commitment with the military has come to a close this summer at which point he will come on board full time. We extend our warmest welcome to Dr. Merkley and look forard to having him as a valued member of the team!
