Good Habits Promote Good Vision

Our ability to see the beauty of the world around us, are loved ones, and all the things we hold dear is a precious gift. It’s a gift many hardly think about, let alone proactively protect. Ensuring healthy habits doesn’t have to be a chore. Adding a few simple actions to our routine promotes healthy vision.

Exercise

Being active is beneficial to every part of you, including your eyes! Regular exercise helps increase blood flow, increasing the oxygen level in your eyes. Common vision problems like glaucoma, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration can be avoided with a bit of physical activity!

Your hands are a highway for bacteria. Make sure to wash your hands often, and never touch your eyes when your hands are dirty. Bacteria in the eyes can lead to irritation and infection, like pink eye.

Wear Protective Eye Wear

Wearing sunglasses and protective eye wear like safety glasses seems like a no-brainer, but are needed in more situations than you might realize! Sunglasses should be used to protect your eyes from harmful UV lights in all seasons, including winter and on partly cloudy days. While safety glasses should be used in any situation where eyes could be subject to flying debris.

Regular Eye Exams

There’s a whole host of eye conditions that can be managed if caught early enough. Diseases like glaucoma can develop with little or no warning, and left untreated can result in permanent blindness. Regular eye exams are the best way to catch sneaky eye ailments before they do irreversible damage.
